Abstract


The main research content of semantic web service includes service discovery, service selection, service composition and service monitoring, etc. And one of the most important research targets is to enhance querying experience and satisfy user preference through semantic web technology. This paper would study on QoS of web service which plays an important role during service matchmaking. The desired result is to help semantic searching engine to be aware of QoS and react to its change in real time. Therefore, the user would get more reasonable and precisable searching results.Firstly, this paper introduces the basic technology background including semantic web, web service and QoS-awareness. Meanwhile, the detailed research content and anticipated research results are extracted and explained based on the comparison and analyzation on many other similar research programmes. After describing above aspects, the paper proposes a general design model which aims to realize QoS-awareness for semantic Web service.Secondly, the paper describes the design model which is composed of two main components. One is the construction of QoS ontology and the other is the QoS reasong system. OWL-DL based QoS ontology is logically composed of two levels. Upper Profile level is used to describe QoS semantic informantion and the lower Property ontoloty focus on definitions of basic QoS ontology classes and relationships. QoS reasoning system inludes OWL-DL based description logic (DL) reasoning and SWRL based rule reasoning. And the main tasks of DL reasoning are instance check and consistency check for QoS knowledge base. While the SWRL based rule reasoning is to fullfill QoS metric unit conversion and composit QoS metric generation.Finally, according to previous discussion, a prototype model system is realized in a specific semantic web service environment to support QoS-awareness. The result of experiments proves that the system could react on changes of QoS in real time and permint heterogeous QoS description so as to enhance user experience and satisfy more specific requirement from both service requesters and providers points.
