Objective:To investigate the effect of dezocine on preventing emergence agitation(EA).Methods:One hundred and eighty patients, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) statusⅠtoⅡ, undergoing elective surgeries under general anesthesia, were randomly divided into three groups: Group NS, Fentanyl and Dezocine. All patients were undergone general anesthesia with propofol-remifentanil. After successfully intubation with regular induction of anesthesia, patients were administered with propofol, cisatracurium and remifentanil constantly during maintenance of anesthesia, and ventilated with anesthesia machines. Then normal saline 2 mL, fentanyl 1μg·kg-1 and dezocine 0.1 mg·kg-1 were administered in three groups respectively by intravenous injection about 8~20 minutes before operations ended. Then the level of restlessness and pain scores during analepsia period were assessed. Spontaneous breath recovery time, extubation time, respiratory rate at 5 minutes after extubation, and side-effects as well among groups were recorded.Results:1. The restlessness scores of both Fentanyl Group and Dezocine Group were less than those of NS Group (P<0.05). While the difference between Fentanyl Group and Dezocie Group was not statistically significant (P>0.05).2. Comparison of pain scores at 5 minutes after extubation among 3 groups showed that patients in Fentanyl Group and Dezocine Group experienced less postoperative pain than those who in NS Group(P<0.05), while analgesic efficacy was similar in both Fentanyl Group and Dezocin Group(P>0.05).3. Differences of spontaneous breath recovery time, extubation time and respiratory rate at 5 minutes after extutabion of 3 groups suggested that Fentanyl Group had longer spontaneous breath recovery time and extubation time than those of NS Group and Dezocine Group(P<0.05), and less respiratory rate than NS Group and Dezocine Group(P<0.05). But there was no significant difference between Dezocine Group and NS Group (P>0.05).4. Side-effects:There were 5 patients in total suffered from nausea in NS Group. In Fentanyl Group, there were 6 out of 60 patients experienced nausea and 1 vomiting, and 3 patients got slightly delayed respiratory depression. When it came to Dezocine Group, there were 2 nausea and 2 dizziness, but no vomiting or respiratory depression. Dezocine Group had less side-effects than Fentanyl Group (P<0.05).Conclusion:1. Both fentanyl (1μg·kg-1) and dezocine (0.1 mg·kg-1) could decrease the incidence of emergence agitation by achieving satisfactory postoperative analgesia.2. Dezocine (0.1 mg·kg-1)had less impacts upon patients’spontaneous respiratory compared with fentanyl(1μg·kg-1).3. Dezocine(0.1 mg·kg-1) got lower incidence of side-effects than fentanyl at the dosage of 1μg·kg-1.As a consequence, dezocine can safely and effectively prevent the incidence of emergence agitation, which is caused by postoperative pain. So that patients would feel more comfortable during analepsia period, and hemodynamics can be more steady as well. Which help patients to go through analepsia period safely, and to enhance the quality of emergence after operations.
