Abstract


Records of the Grand Historian as the first chronological history books, enjoys a high academic status in the fields of historians and literary. The research results of Records of the Grand Historian are numerous, but there is no specialized research about the legal words of Records of the Grand Historian.In fact, Records of the Grand Historian preserved the achievements of the ancient law and legal language’s development very well, but also retains a large number of specific contexts, contribute to the legal words in a profile of the period with high research value. In this paper, Records of the Grand Historian is the research corpus, and the Dictionary of Ancient Law as the main reference, take more than 300 legal words, combined with the specific contexts to do a preliminary study.This paper has 5 chapters, including profiling of the condition of Records of the Grand Historian legal words of use and classification; study in the features of synonyms, and words borrowed of Records of the Grand Historian’s legal words; analysis these legal word’s morphological characteristics in the point of word polyphony; and then, compared them with the legal words of earlier Qin dynasty and the legal words of modern Chinese, sorting the born and death of legal words.This paper studies both the horizontal, but also concerned about the longitudinal comparison, trying to make more complete pictures of the legal words perspective, to get a comprehensive understanding and description.
