To help students develop their learning strategies is the demand set on modern education by our era. Many psychologists and educators consider a good grasp of learning strategies to be the most important aspect of language acquisition.As we all know, sound system, grammar and vocabulary are the three most important components that constitute language. Vocabulary is to language what bricks are to buildings. The size of vocabulary has a great influence on people’s communicative abilities such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, translating and so on.Based on the analyses and results of many people’s pervious researches on English vocabulary teaching and English vocabulary learning strategies, the thesis makes an investigation and an experiment on the English vocabulary learning strategies of senior high school Grade-two students. By designing the questionnaire, analyzing the data, doing individual interviews, training the students, carrying out English proficiency tests, etc, the author tries to offer some vocabulary learning strategies, which aims to help the students acquire the strategies suitable for them so that they can learn the vocabulary actively and efficiently, and foster their practical application of vocabulary. In the course of learning, they will build their self-confidence, develop their autonomy, promote the comprehensive ability in English and lay a foundation for their life-long learning.The result shows that after the training, the students can significantly improve their overall level of English vocabulary learning strategies, thus facilitating their English vocabulary learning and improving their English language performance. At the same time, by doing the research, teachers can upgrade their professional quality, thus enhancing their capacity for education and instruction.
