In the Tang Dynasty, the fiction developed to a new gener -the Tang prose romances. The emergence of the Tang prose romances is a sign of maturity of classical Chinese fiction. In addition, the Tang Dynasty is an era of openness, many foreigners came to the territory of the Tang Dynasty, they brought a variety of items: jewelry, clothing, food, etc. These exotic items were written into the Tang prose romances that people created. So studying the people how to use these exotic items in the Tang prose romances is the goal of the research.In this paper, according to previous studies,I define the concept -"physical image" first, then I do a systematically collective and classified work of the physical images that appear in the Tang prose romances, according to whether it is connected with the Buddhism, they are categorized as two categories: physical images related with Buddhism and physical images that are not related with Buddhist, at last, I do a study of the Tang prose romances where the physical images exist in author and time, these lay a foundation for subsequent research; Then, in the second chapter, first, I make a study of the way in which the two physical images entered into the Tang Dynasty, then, respectively, I make a study of the introduction of the two physical images in the Tang Dynasty according to two categories, which verifies how these physical images entered into the Tang Dynasty through the cultural exchange; in the third chapter, first, I study what Cultural significance these physical images had when they entered into the Tang Dynasty, and then the research return to the text, I make a study what literary significance these physical images have in the Tang prose romances after they were introduced into the Tang Dynasty; in the final chapter, following with the third chapter, I do a comparison of the meanings of these physical images before and after these physical images were introducted into the Tang Dynasty , then explore the transformation of their meaning before and after the introduction, and then study the law of the transformation of their meaning before and after the introduction.
