Abstract

ObjectiveTo explore the correlation of the expressions of metastasis associated gene(MTA1) and hypoxia inducible factor 1 alpha(HIF-la) to the clinical features of pancreatic cancer.MethodsThe expressions of MTA1 and HIF-la proteins in 69 pancreatic cancer patients and 31 normal pancreatic tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry staining.ResultsExpressions of MTA1 and HIF-la in pancreatic cancer tissue were significantly higher than that in normal pancreatic tissue (P<0.01), and the correlative analysis revealed that the expression of MTA1 was positively correlated with HIF-la(r=0.574, P<0.01).The level of MTA1 was closely related with the clinical stage and the lymphnode metastasis (P= 0.047,P=0.001),and the level of HIF-la was closely related with the size of tumor, the clinical stage, the lymphnode metastasis and distant metastasis (P= 0.013,P=0.001, P=0.012, P<0.001)ConclusionOverexpressions of MTA1 and HIF-la were found in pancreatic cancer, and MTA1 may promote pancreatic carcinogenesis by enhancing stability of HIF-la protein., and it provides a new way to treat pancreatic cancer.
