Abstract


The thesis of this paper studied the independent documentaries in Mainland from 1998 to 2008 which had won prizes abroad, discussed on it in cultural and aesthetic fields. These documentaries and their authors are representative in the field in China. Their success in abroad embodied the mixture of west and east culture in the work, also drove the authors in a way to create the works on a particular standard. In this thesis, the author tries to interpret these documentaries and reveal their different aesthetic and value standards. Furthermore, by studying their physiologic states、ideas and opinions during creation, the author try to learn and reveal the creators lives and thoughts.These awarded abroad documentaries not only exist under a particular language circumstances, but also represent the current development of the documentaries in our country. Therefore, by studying these documentaries, we can get to know the future of the development of our country’s documentaries, and also to some degree we can learn the difference in culture and film between the west and east.
