Along with developing environmental awareness and demand of people, the improvement of urban public space was increasingly being attracted by worldwide attention. Urban public space was important place where people work and rest; it was "living room" of the city, which was not only providing recreation space for urban residents, but also presenting the soul of a city as cultural landscape. An outstanding urban public space, elevated public motion and civilize social behavior, which gave the whole city harmony and prosperity. The current problems arising in construction and how to deal with, were the focused section in this paper.Firstly, this paper discussed the classification of urban public space, defined the concept, and introduced domestic as well as foreign history of construction of urban public space. The problem in current construction of public space in domestic urban was included also. Then, analyzed the characteristics of urban public space, predicted future trends of Chinese urban public space, which is the study of urban public space at the meso level.Secondly, at the micro level, discussed the important square, streets, parks& green spaces in details of environment and space in designation, with example of Big Wild Goose Pagoda Square, College Gate neighborhood and Cien temple Site Park. Then, in the sciences of human settlements, discuss reflection on creating of urban public space, summed up a few important concepts in creating of urban public space. This is at the macro level of urban public space to conduct research.Finally, combined practical projects-Hanyao Site Park, practiced and explored the construction of urban public space, studied in meso-and micro-level conjunction with the concept of the scientific outlook of human settlements, theories to guide practice, practice testing and additional theory, to study its creating method of the environment and space.
