Abstract


The ancient Chinese literary works seem implicative, and the statements of the works are limited but the meaning is infinite, because the using of imaginary in the rhetoric. This paper is about Chinese ancient literature’s“beauty”image studies.“Beauty”as a common image in ancient Chinese literary works was first appeared in the "Book of Songs", but it got the real shape is in Qu Yuan’s Songs of the South. This paper will describe the embryo, generation, stereotypes, inheritance and development and breakthrough of "beauty" image in the stage of the pre-Qin 2 Han and wei Jin Dynasties. Through the study of literature in this phase we found that those who use "beauty" image with politics or to express and repress their inner pain because the literati got political strike, or their career are not good, or they are full of talent but their ambitions have no way achieved. They can only show the suffering of their own hearts through the literary works, but not expressed directly."Beauty" Image in Pre-Qin’s "Book of Songs", generated stereotypes in the Songs of the South, constantly succession in the Han literati Chester, but by the end of Wei Jin Dynasty period due to social unrest, political pressure scholars are no longer interested in politics, nor would have dared to face the realities of society. During this period, Qu Yuan’s kind of "beauty" image shifted to using the "beauty" image to the typical mode of nothingness, transcend, and a kind of mysticism ideal. And by the Six Dynasties period, due to not only erosion and the corruption of society, but also political power controlled by the feudal nobles, literati are no longer interested in politics, but pleasure-seeking. Women became a tool of nobles; they treat the female as man’s doll. At that time there were many works about women, but most of them took“beauty”for pleasure of men or as the tool of men. The“beauty”image came back to nature in real life from metaphor image, and it was temporarily ended the "beauty" image.In short, this paper disctribes the image of beauty in the literature in the stage of the pre-Qin double Han, Wei, Jin Dynasties, it goes according to the chronological context for the development of this elaborate imagery.
