Abstract

To destroy the Concrete specimen until the whole specimen ruin is so called Materials Test. Only if study all data of the experiment, can we estimate the force characteristics of the specimen. Since some experiment cost not only lots of money, but also people resource and time, the Finite Element Analysis(FEA) of Concrete specimen is becoming increasingly important. The sources of the Concrete’s nonlinearity characteristics are the material’s uniformity. There are lots of micro-cracks and micro bubbles in the cement and between the cement and aggregate. Sand and stone’s size and distribution are not uniform in the Concrete. As the load increases, these cracks continue to develop the mechanical properties of concrete are also changing, reflected in the stress-strain curve is nonlinear. In this paper, the finite element software we use is ANSYS, using separate finite element model and the discrete crack model, by simulating the process of internal cracks in concrete with the development of pressure, to study the concrete’s nonlinear. When we simulate the compression of the concrete specimens, we also simulate the concrete specimens’freeze-thaw cycle test by appropriately simplify the test conditions. In this paper, Concrete will be divided into aggregates, cement and the transition zone between the aggregates and cement. We first study the influence on the three parts’mechanical properties caused by deformation and micro-cracks occur in the freeze-thaw cycle. Then we can make up the three parts and test the entirety’s mechanical properties. The method of this simulation is universal, we can change the material parameters to simulate other strength grades of concrete. In this freeze-thaw cycle simulation, we apply frost heaving force in the pores. To simulate the freeze-thaw cycle experiment as realistically as possible and study on the micro-damage in the concrete is my goal in this paper.
