Abstract


With the trend of customer requirements diversification and small batches, companies which adopt the extensive management have to face the increasingly fierce competition. The efficiency of logistics plays an important role in improving customer satisfaction and reducing operation cost. Meanwhile, order picking is the most important process in the whole logistics operation for its cost takes 40% of logistics cost, and its efficiency has direct effect on the whole warehouse.This subject analyses the current situation and problems of order picking in BHA Company. It establishes an important foundation for managing and optimizing cargo location by means of both quantitative and qualitative methods. Base on the time-window batch method which is a popular strategy in order picking, it puts forward a dynamic time-window design method, which could reduce waiting and stopping time. In theory this method could eliminate the waiting time which is caused by the unbalance of time-window batch. It would be helpful for company to increase storage space and reduce total cost.The results of this subject have greatly improved the efficiency of order picking in BHA. This will also be a good example for the similar Small and Medium Enterprises to reduce their cost in order picking and get the competitive advantage in marketing.
