Abstract


Language has blurred, Hedges and the large-scale use is the ambiguity of language is an important form of expression, it is commonly found in a variety of languages, and plays a very important role in communication. Hedges and as a field of fuzzy language study, proposed in 1972 by the American linguist Lakoff earliest. After that, some scholars, such as Fraser, Brown and Levinson, Leech, Hubler, Rosech, Myers from different angles, Hedges and analysis of research. Hedges began in the late seventies, Beijing Normal University Wu Tieping professor introduced the fuzzy language to Chinese domestic. In fact, in many words, phrases and sentences in the language can be considered to be hedges, they have a rich semantic features and pragmatic functions, can not be ignored and replaced. In a very long period of time, the research of scholars Hedges just stay at the level of semantics and syntax. However, with the development of Pragmatic and Discourse analysis, more and more scholars from the pragmatic level of Hedges. Many linguists from different angles Hedges and a large number of studies, although has yielded fruitful results, but failed to reach agreement in many ways, and for a special style of Hedges phenomenon is relatively small. As news of the mass media, has a pivotal role in people's daily life, and has thus become the research hotspot in recent years. But the the fewer for economic news Hedges phenomenon, comparative study about Hedges in English and Chinese economic news is even more rare. Therefore, on the basis of previous studies, in accordance with the definition G.Lakoff Hedges, according to Prince et al. Et al Hedges classification standard in Verschuern Adaptation Theory framework, English and Chinese economic news Hedges used to Hedges and explore the use of both the similarities and differences in the category and class distribution, in order to reveal the features of English and Chinese economic news Hedges, and explained in English and Chinese The economic news Hedges, summarizes the common language of English and Chinese economic news Hedges function hope to inspire reading and writing English and Chinese economic news. Based on this study, the paper focuses on the following three issues: (1) the frequency and distribution of the similarities and differences between the use of English and Chinese economic news in all kinds of Hedges? (2) English and Chinese economic news appears to explain how to use the Adaptation Theory Hedges? (3) Hedges in English and Chinese economic news Pragmatic features? order to explore the above issues, I self two small parallel corpus, the corpus from the United Kingdom and China, two major very influential economic news websites, the UK's leading financial daily \Self-built parallel corpus corpus contains English and Chinese economic news on both sites by search keywords' oil price \, the Chinese Corpus total word count is about 19141. Hedges and classification according to Lakoff definition and Prince et al. Hedges et al, I read the parallel corpus, respectively, from the identification of four different types of Hedges. the assistance of the Word document search function, combined with the context of the corpus, I also pointed out that the Hedges in the corpus and calculated the number and frequency of four Hedges and parallel corpus. on the basis of these statistics, the author of these two self-built corpus quantitative, qualitative and descriptive analysis to find the similarities and differences the Hedges in use in the English-Chinese two types of economic news at the Prince et al on Hedges classification of the language, in English and Chinese economic news, four kinds of fuzzy hedges are frequent English and Chinese economic news, however, is different preferences for four Hedges English economic news in the most indirect easing language, followed by the number of changes in language, again, is the degree of change in language, and finally direct easing language; Chinese economic news is the degree of change in language, followed by the number of changes in language, again is directly easing language, is finally easing language directly. Obviously, the English economy news up using indirect easing language, you can specify the source of the news, the more objective news reports. Next science point of view from the pragmatic to Verschueren language Adaptation Theory as a theoretical framework to analyze and explain the English and Chinese economic news Hedges the language of reason, and the economic news reports, the use of Hedges adapt to the physical world and the psychological world which conform to the requirements of journalism adapt to the physical world, including accuracy, objectivity and timeliness; of psychological adapt the world to conform to the psychological world of the news reporters and news readers. these conform to the process, Hedges language played an effective pragmatic functions, including the conservative secret, increase credibility, save time and enhance language flexibility.
