This paper explains that rhetorical motive and purpose originate from psychological needs, such as aesthetic needs, esteem needs and self-actualization needs. When the research of psychological needs is put into social situation, rhetorical motive and purpose come from appetency. Objective existence triggers rhetorical motive and purpose. Human thinking is the prerequisite to realize rhetorical motive and purpose. Human thinking establishes a reasonable relationship between objective existence and rhetorical motive and purpose.
