Abstract

This article uses the U.S. Joint Typhoon Warning Center (Joint Typhoon Warning Center, JTWC) announced six hours northwest Pacific tropical cyclone track data of 1965 to 2008 in the Pacific Northwest, tropical cyclones and super typhoon statistical analysis of tropical cyclones and super strong typhoon of time, spatial distribution, and the two different distribution characteristics were compared. 2.5 ° × 2.5 ° NCEP (the National Centers for Environmental Prediction) announced wind farm, on the basis of the comparison of tropical cyclones and super typhoon on the seasonal variation of different activities characteristic daily average humidity and temperature field, height field and monthly mean reanalysis data as well as SODA (the simple ocean data assimilation) of sea surface temperature data, and analysis of large-scale environmental factors affect the intensity of tropical cyclones, and verify large-scale inter-annual variation through analysis of tropical cyclones and super typhoon the impact of environmental factors on tropical cyclones and super typhoon activities. To the conclusion: 1) Pacific Northwest average annually generate about 30 tropical cyclones, which reached super typhoon level to account for the proportion of the total number of all tropical cyclones in the region of about 21%. The maximum area of ??the frequency of tropical cyclones and super typhoon in the waters east of the Philippines, and in the South China Sea, a large value of the activity center, the center of a tropical cyclone activity in the South China Sea is more obvious. 2) tropical cyclones and super typhoon activities have significant seasonal variation, tropical cyclones most active season from July to October, in August, the number of months to generate maximum value, minimum value in February, while the the active super typhoon season July to November, the monthly numbers generated maximum occurred in September, the minimum in February and March. Active area of ??tropical cyclones and super typhoon remained south of 15 ° N ,4-September with the seasonal northward, westward, at the same time the frequency of occurrence is increasing, October 2-3, southward retreat, and the frequency of occurrence of a decreasing trend. Super typhoon path form more regular than the tropical cyclone's path. Through the western North Pacific tropical cyclone intensity analysis and comparison of the large-scale background factors, found low-level relative vorticity and meridional vertical wind shear is the most important factor to affect the intensity of tropical cyclones, both obvious effect on the intensity of tropical cyclones and large in other large-scale environmental factors. Tropical cyclone intensity peak in April and November is likely to be Asian - Australian Monsoon circulation seasonal conversion of low-level environmental vorticity and meridional vertical wind shear are weak, which is caused by tropical cyclones and super typhoon Seasonal variations of the main reason. 3) low-level relative vorticity and the impact of tropical cyclones to the vertical wind shear is not only reflected in the seasonal changes, and also plays an important role in the inter-annual variation in the intensity of tropical cyclones. The lower tropical cyclone activity area relative vorticity vertical meridional wind the smaller shear year, can achieve higher intensity of tropical cyclones. Year, tropical cyclones in the Pacific ENSO warm events (CPW) in the development of the westward movement of the process be able to enjoy greater the lower atmosphere of positive vorticity, the environment and smaller the meridional vertical wind shear environment, at the same time there will be more growth space is conducive to the enhancement of the tropical cyclone, CPW years super typhoon activities frequently than CPC (Central Pacific Cooling) years. Super typhoon activities and the Pacific-type the ENSO phenomenon of the cold and warm events, CPW phenomenon and CPC phenomenon reflects the good correlation, and eastern Pacific ENSO and cold, warm events, EPW phenomenon and the phenomenon of EPC related sex is not very obvious.
