Abstract


Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) combined with CT - guided percutaneous microwave coagulation therapy (PMCT) in treating hepatic cancer.Methods Eighty-five cases with hepatic cancer were randomly divided into therapeutic group and control group. In control group,43 cases were treated with TACE,and repeated every 1 or 1.5 months.The course of treatment involved three times.In therapeutic group,42 cases from the same period underwent the same TACE, and then were scanned by enhanced CT or MRI to ensure the residue, and then were treated with PMCT under CT guidance.After the course,all of the cases were followed by enhanced CT,MRI or DSA every three months. Compared two groups with complete necrosis rate of tumor , the recurrence rate , and one-year survival rate. The results were analyzed with statistics to assess the efficacy of therapeutic group.Results All of the cases were accomplished a course of treatment. The complete necrosis rate of tumor (three months after the course), the recurrence rate (within six months after the course), and one-year survival rate were 92. 86 %、9.53 % , and 97.62 %, respectively in therapeutic group, and 20.93 % , 39.53 % , and 79.07 %, respectively in control group. There were significant statistical differences between the two groups (P <0.01) . Conclusion The therapeutic effects of TACE combined with CT-guided PMCT show better results than that of TACE alone. And TACE combined with CT-guided PMCT can be a safe, effective method in combined therapy of patients with hepatic cancer.
