Abstract


Xi’an City Wall and Moat are mutual-supported on the whole. The City Wall of Ming Dynasty is the boundary line of ancient city Xi’an and the moat is the transitional zone, which inherits the historical culture and humane spirit ,continues our way of life and makes up the feature of the city. The ecosystem of moat waterfront ensures the balance of city’s ecological structure and provides the space for people to enjoy amusement and recreation, further more it provides“the revival of imperial city”with ecological environment and favorable condition.In this paper, I use the theory of landscape ecology,related theory and method (including the protection and transformation of historic sites, the method of ecological design, restoration of the ecosystem, etc), utilize other domestic related examples and expound the current situation of waterfront’s eco-landscape research. These are the theoretical basis of the ecological landscape discussion about Xi’an moat.Based on the research of document, this paper is set in the third“Application for the List of World Heritage”,”the revival of imperial city”, Xi’an will be built into a“international metropolis”, Xi’an Horticultural Expo will be held in 2011, I begin with the protection of historical sites and the theory of landscape ecology, through looking back of Xi’an City Wall and Moat’s change of function and position, consider the current situation of moat and existing ecological problems as the investigable goal,after a series of analysis, I base on the state of the moat landscape’s development, provide the well-targeted landscape design principle and ecological functions’location, besides I combined some successful examples in home and abroad waterfront (including moat) and landscape design, make designed conception in two aspects of eco-landscape’s construction(namely the restoration of water body ecological engineering and the optimization of landscape design),I try to propose feasible concrete measure in order to make moat radiate vigor under the premise of keeping historical scene and make sure the moat to suit the need of the current and future development.
