Abstract


Chinese revolutionary historical novel is a literary style whichdevelops from the process of the Chinese revolution. At the middle ofthe 20th century, the revolutionary historical novel （represented by the"red classical"） becomes an important method of the newborn regime toconstruct its own revolutionary historical collective memory, which isused to instruct and unite the masses. With the changes of the socialbackground and times, revolutionary wars slowly fade out from ourview, peace and development become the new focus now. In this newcircumstance, the revolutionary historical novel still continues todevelop. However, a series of reasons such as the lack of the specialsocial environment, the change of cultural and literal concept with thedevelopment of society, the author’s unfamiliarization and lack ofcuriosity to the war and so on, make the development of Chineserevolutionary historical novel show three obvious stages. This paper isbased on the "revolutionary historical novel", "new historical novel",and "new revolutionary historical novel", by adopting the method ofinterpretation, analysis and comparison of the special text, pays moreattention to new characteristics of "new revolutionary historical novel",and probes into the narrative structure and theme of these three kinds ofnovels in three different periods. According to the comparison of these three kinds of novels, I will analyze and summarize the "trio" of the development of revolutionary historical novel from following four dimensions: the historical process, the historical concept, the historical perspective and the historical figures. Besides, this paper attempts to combine the investigation of the contemporary political, cultural, economic and other aspects to look into the social environment and the underlying reasons. Further more, This paper attempts to sort out the complete clues of the development of Chinese contemporary revolutionary historical novel from following phenomenon: the subversion of "new historical novel" to "revolutionary historical novel", and the comprehensive surmounting of "new revolutionary historical novel" to "revolutionary historical novel" and its powerful correction to "new historical novel".
