Liu Zhenyun, a Chinese writer who has dedicated himself in writing New-Realism novels for over thirty years arises Chinese readers’sympathy with his marvelous works that unveiling real China by keeping an eye on events. He does not repeat, but instead, tries diversified writing styles. But anyway, we notice that he has been keeping exploring human’s lust and letting us know how life has been, which eventually be spirit of his works. I consider this spirit, or insistence is very important because nowadays literature is losing herself when shocked by materialism and image culture. This article is to follow writer and explore human’s lust in3steps, i.e what he writes, how he writes and what he writes for. We’ll have a look over "Ta Pu" and "I am not Pan Jinlian", the early and latest novels by the writer. In the preface, you’ll learn what’s lust, based on which I’ll name a few novels. Also, there will be some analysis on comments to these novels. In the end, I’d like to emphasis innovation of this article. In the first chapter, specific cases, including that of lust for material, for power and for words are to be listed, and analysis to be reached with reference to "Human’s Needs"-theory by Maslow and other scholars. In the second chapter, plot is to be researched, including character description structure plan and image choice. With the study on how to reveal human’s lust, we can conclude writer’s features in reflecting human’s initiative by stating what happened in the past and now, indicating that desire is complex by re-structuring and implying with common images that human are born desired. In the third chapter, values in revealing human’s lust though writing are to be discussed. This chapter highlights in-depth meaning of human’s lust. Furthermore, its aesthetic value to be studied. The article will end up with putting Liu Zhenyun’s creation in a proper place with evaluation of writer’s deficiency.
