Abstract


Zhaoqian Wu was a representative literator in the end of Ming dynasty and the beginning of Qing dynasty. He was born in scholarly family in South of Yangzi River and suffered the society upheaval which changed from one dynasty to another. After demise of Ming dynasty, he took imperial examinations of Qing dynasty. When Wu Zhong literature association rise, he become a chief of another literature association which was Shenjiao association. He took provincial examination in 1657 and became a provincial graduate. Ding You exam case was disclosed that year which shocked the government and the people, he was suspected of cheating in exam and then was sent under escort to Ningguta. He lived there for twenty three years. He had two works "Qiu Jia anthology" and "Letters to Family and Friends" left to the world.This thesis has three chapters. The ideology of Zhaoqian Wu before his calamity was studied in the first chapter. The reason why he took imperial examination, his life experiences, and the early writings were all analyzed. His life in jail mainly on his inditement and intercourse was narrated in the second chapter. Experiences in prison had profound influence to his ideology and changed his writing style. His life when he was sentenced to frontier fortress was analyzed in the last chapter. Particular living environment made him feel lonely& despairing. Dismalness and effusiveness thoughts were manifested in his writings.
