Abstract

With the socio-economic and cultural development, casual suit tends to be fashionable and personalized. Currently the study of casual suit focused on the history theory, Layout area, while the research of style design is weak; the casual suit industry of our country needs to improve the cultural connotation of design through innovation; higher level design of casual suit is required because of the development of concept of male consumption; casual suit’s design is restricted by the basic silhouette of suit, which determines the significance of the details design.Based on the above background, this thesis used the document retrieval method, image data analysis and case analysis, make the following study:the development process of casual suit, men’s design features, the structural characteristics of suits, the features of casual suit’s style design; the design point and methods of casual suit’s structural details, decorative details, technology details; relationship of suit jacket’s detail design and brand style and popular. Drawing the following conclusions:1. casual suit is mainly evolved by hunting jacket, blazer and suits; the development of suit jacket is mainly influenced by the U.S. concept of freedom and democracy, rebellious youth culture, and the impact of popular entertainment culture; the name of "casual suit" is proposed in 1990s.2. the design point and methods of structural details:shape the shoulder form through the location of shoulder endpoint and fabrics quality; deconstruct the relationship between the notch lapel and clothes; composition of several types collar; the manner of placket opening and the combination relationship with clothing; relationship between the front and back hem line; the location and arrangement of pockets; the location, shape and quantity of structure line, such as dart line, pleats, slit..3. the design point of Decorative details generally concentrate in the collar, placket, hem, cuffs, shoulder area; the form of decorative details can be divided into flat, semi-three-dimensional, three-dimensional decoration; the mainly methods of decoration conclude using clasp such as zipper or some specific process means of decoration; the materials of decorative details often contrast with the texture of clothing fabric.4. Technology form of design Details conclude welting, insertion, stitching, printing and dyeing, padding and other technology. Focusing on the development of new technology means not only can give the assurance of tailing technology, but also create unique visual effects, to enhance the market competitiveness.5. Choices of design details’ color and fabric should consider the design style and the final effect:harmonic unity or contrast.6. Reflection of brand style elements depends on the application of details. details designing emphasizes the brand style. Elegant brand style highlights texture of fabric, putting little importance on structure and decorative details; romantic style tends to use soft fabric and other details to make romantic sense; according to the concept of lively and interesting, detail design of lively brand style has much freedom; avant-garde style emphasizes the expression of design concept, deconstruction means is often used.7. Silhouette and color are clearly reflected fashion trends, while the popularity of design details are quite different:some structural details or special fabrics have a high popularity; the popularity of decorative details, the details of color and fabric is much lower.
