Abstract


In this paper, Brown and Levinson (Brown and Levinson) \disagreed \This research is the 100 Chinese students and 100 American college students , the collection of data in order to test the questionnaire discourse complement (DCT) as a tool for data analysis using a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods . By comparing the \Studies have shown that the identity of the caller 's environment than answer , Chinese students in the implementation of this speech acts tend to use direct policy ; rather than the identity of the caller answer the environment, they prefer indirect tactful strategies . When the caller with the answer who is equal social status , the American students used most direct strategy , while Chinese students tend to use indirect strategies to show courtesy . With the social distance increases, the Chinese students direct strategy to use more than American students . Above conclusion speaks of social and cultural factors on the implementation of \Social distance affects social relations and social rights . In the cultural level, the Chinese people 's sense of hierarchy between norms and values ??of traditional values ??and the impact of the concept with the Americans produced a sharp contrast. In this study of foreign language teaching and learning has some inspiration . Teaching should pay attention to the use of appropriate pragmatic strategies to develop students' intercultural awareness, improve their intercultural competence , thereby increasing the level of cross-cultural communication , reduce pragmatic failure .
