Abstract


Since the 1980s, there had been wind interactions between the science of sociology, psychology and management studies with tons of research findings on the impact of goal-setting, emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, achievement motivation, task performance and the corporate culture to individual acts or performance. Some research believes to a certain extent that in many studies they act as decisive factor to the success of organizations and individuals.This paper first reviews the theory of Goal Setting, unconscious information processing and corporate cultural related theories. It points out that the limitation of current research on goal-setting and performance management is that they mostly remain in the conscious level, and neglect that the unconscious information processing also has considerable impact in the task performance. This research introduces two experiments of negative goal of unconsciousness and tries to explore the impact of negative unconscious factors to the performance of a task. The experiment is trying to discuss that some of the environmental factors can be activated in the individual unconscious state during information processing, thereby affecting decision-making and behavior. The result of the experiment concludes that a positive goal of the unconscious can be activated and functioned in the task and then can improve individual performance levels, and in the contrast, a negative one will lower the level of performance.This paper sums up some of the unconscious factors in the enterprise environment and analyzes the relationship between the unconscious factors and corporate culture in the two stages and a three circle model. All the unconscious factors in the business environment are classified and described of its potential impact. This paper introduces the potential applications of the experiment results and theoretical studies in the practice of business management. It concludes that it is necessary for corporate to establish an in-house "unconscious" management system, and to maximize the use of unconscious factors in the business environment. To illustrate the feasibility of this application, the paper introduces two cases in the real business of how we can use the findings.
