Chinese capital market has developed ever-increasingly fast from the foundation. Following the capital reform and related law reinforce, Chinese capital market has been daily reaching maturity -with more and more people using their otiose money to invest in capital market. The Shanghai Stock Index climbs up to 6100 and have a 97% rise not long ago, which shows that people are possessed with stock investment. For another thing, the international trade experiences fast and persistent development, which is a great opportunity for Chinese port and shipping public companies. Based on above two points, this paper offers performance evaluation of Chinese port and shipping public companies, which is meaningful, and the paper is organized as follows:Based on the character of Chinese port and shipping public companies, this paper, referring to public companies’ economy performance index system of Chinese Ministry of Finance, has summarized finance performance index system of Chinese port and shipping public companies into five aspects as a whole, i.e., payoff capability, management efficiency, stock investors’ lucre capability, solvency, developing capability of public companies. Aiming at above five aspects, twenty indices have been chosen to frame performance index system of port and shipping public companies of Chinese. Using eigenvalue method to assure the weight of every index, this paper has applied principal component model and TOPSIS model respectively to develop the synthetic evaluation model of twenty Chinese port and shipping public companies. Applying two evaluation methods and analyzing this problem from different angles and dimensions has conquered the difficulties of unilateral shortcomings leaded by observation from one aspect. The first evaluation methods are of low dimension in estimate space comparing to TOPSIS method, which is of high dimension and a significant complement to the first. Synthesizing the results of three evaluation methods from different angles and dimensions, this paper has offered an entirely and fair consult of performance evaluation of Chinese port and shipping public companies.The end results of appraising has showed that the several stock of public companies come out top in the twenty Co. list are Zhonghaifazhan, Zhongyuanhangyun, Yantiangang, Yingkougang, Xiamengangwu, ShenchiWan A. If we separate to compare and evaluate the port and shipping public companies, we can get the first five port public companies in the twenty Co. list are Yantiangang, Yingkougang, Xiamengangwu, Shenchiwan A, Tianjingang; and the first five shipping public companies in the twenty Co. list are Zhonghaifazhan, Zhongyuanhangyun, Waiyunfazhan, Zhaoshanglunchuan, Zhonghaihaisheng, which has veraciously reflected the current performance level of Chinese port and shipping public companies and offered a valued information and referring to vast stock investors.
