Abstract


Under the background of economic globalization and regional economic integration, international investment has already become one of the increasing important facts which promote the development of countries or regions, and it is also one of important theories and practical problems which catch the extension concern of international community. As the energy heavy chemical industry base, it is positively meaning for the sustainable development of economic to analyze about FDI effect on economic development and performance and potential of FDI in Shanxi province.Correlation analysis method is used to prove that if the increasing of GDP could cause the increasing of FDI. With regression analysis method, this paper analyzes the effect of FDI on economy in Shanxi. It is found: the relationship between GDP and FDI was positive correlation due to the economic increasing in Shanxi which causes significantly the entering of FDI. FDI have remarkable effect on economic growth of Shanxi through short-term effect, increasing l%of FDI will cause improving 0.341% in GDP that year. FDI have not remarkable effect on economic growth of Shanxi through long-term effect, the time lag is two years, and the time-lagged FDI is smaller than the first-year-FDI on the contribution to GDP.Structure Deviation index was used and analyzed about its effect to studying the effect of FDI on industrial structure of Shanxi province. The results indicated that there are insufficient investments of FDI in Shanxi to the primary industry, more sufficient investment of FDI to the second industry; FDI in the third industry is increasing slowly. Between the industry structure of FDI and the industrial structure of Shanxi economic there is a structure deviation, it cause the FDI industrial structure and its interior improper; it also enhance developing level of the industrial structure and the optimal industrial structure. With Q clustering analyzing method, the paper studies the difference of FDI effect to diverse regions of Shanxi. It is found, there is notable difference that the effect of FDI to all of the regions. Taiyuan、Datong and Yuncheng are the developed regions of FDI contribution; ChangZhi、Jincheng、Shuozhou and Linfen are the developing regions of FDI contribution; Yangquan、Xinzhou、Lvliang and Jinzhong are the undeveloped regions of FDI contribution. This gap has been broadened, which must be paid sharpest cautions.The paper constructs indexes of performance and potential of FDI to analyze the economic of Shanxi by selecting ten potential indicators affecting potential of FDI. Results show that the performance indexes of Shanxi are below 0.5, the performance of FDI reach lower point at 0.5 and tend to fall totally. The potential indexes scores of FDI in Shanxi reach a lower point compared to other 9 provinces, and deepen the gap between Shanxi and the developed region gradually. The gap of some potential indicators between Shanxi and other provinces is larger. As demonstrated in the matrix of FDI performance and potential index, they are improper each other in the rank, the number of FDI performance decreased while the number of FDI potential leveled off. Shanxi province has been found belongs to backwardness ranks, lagging behind the developed regions in the level of attracting the foreign investment and developing speed.
