Abstract


TI worm gearing, namely toroidal involute worm gearing, is a novel worm gearing, which consists of involute helical gear and its enveloping hourglass worm. Accurate grinding for TI worm is the key manufacture technology for TI worm gearing being popularized and applied. Based on the manufacture and experiment of the hardened TI worm gearing, the triturate and performance examination of the TI worm retarder sample is investigated, and the profile of grinding wheel for grinding TI worm is further studied.According to the obtained profile of grinding wheel for grinding TI worm,the basic principle of grinding wheel dresser is presented. The required grinding wheel dresser and grinding head are designed and processed.The theoretical method of grinding TI worm is explained. The optimized system for selection the main design parameters for TI worm gearing is obtained. Truing grinding wheel and grinding TI worm tooth surface are realized on gear-hobbing machine, and the trituration of the hardened TI worm gearing retarder is completed Experimental bench for TI worm drive is built. The load-carrying capability、efficiency、temperature and vibration of the retarder are studied. The results indicate the good driving nature of the hardened TI worm gearing retarder under lower load. However, with the load increasing, massive heat produced at the field of conjugate area made the oil temperature increase, transmission efficiency fall down, tooth face attrition aggravate, operation fluctuate.New method for deducing the profile of grinding wheel for grinding TI worm is presented. Accurate grinding for TI worm is converted into grinding for involute helical by shaped wheel. According to the theory of gear meshing, the mesh equation for grinding involute helicoid by grinding wheel is deduced, and the new equation of the axial section profile of grinding is gained. The method of grinding TI worm is instructed.
