Abstract

The doctrine of Pure Land is an important and indispensable part of the teaching in the Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Its religious vision and Ultimate goal is reborn in the Amitabha Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Through the depth study and systematic pectination for the Buddhism thought and its formation and development, the sutras being based, the amendments rituals, achievements signs of the Pure land thought in Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism, we found that the belief of Pure Land in Nyingma sect and Pure Land Sect of Han Buddhism religious ideals are the same, the thought of Pure Land in Nyingma sect root in ancient India Buddhist Pure Land thought.There are two ways to cultivate oneself according to Buddhism doctrine in the Pure Land teaching of Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism which are exoteric and esoteric methods. The main ploy of Exoteric Pure Land method is reading Qiao Mei Rinpoche " Pure Land Vows" in the chanting of " Pure Land Vows," and during the reading process of " Pure Land Vows" Buddhists must recite the name of Amitabha, finally vowing to be reborn to the Western Pure Land of Amitabha ; Esoteric Pure Land amending method is mainly relying on gymnosophists of Nyingma sect to envision their own heart which can visualize the Tibetan character "hrvi" ( ) to introject into the heart of Amitabha, and envision themselves are same as Amitabha, and then reciting Amitabha’s name or core Mantra constantly, then expecting to reincarnate in the Western Pure Land of Amitabha. Nyingma sect thinks that if Buddhists want to achieve the goals and ideals of being reborn in the Western Pure Land of Amitabha, either esoteric method or exoteric method of Pure Land, they need to discipline the following four aspects. The first one is to know the vision of Pure Land clearly, which means to firmly establish the religious beliefs, which is the authenticity of the western Pure Land; the second one is accumulation of resources, removing barriers. It means that against the evil, promote the good religious ethics; the third one is vowing as a Bodhisattva, it means to advocate for the religious character which is selfless dedication of the infinite mercy for all beings; the fourth one is to vow pure will, which means to set the ultimate religious goal and ideal to get all beings to be free.With the development of times, cultural exchanges between Han and Tibetan Buddhism is increasingly frequent, Tibetan Pure Land method is also gradually towards the mainland from the Tibetan. The research for the Pure Land belief in Nyingma sect of Tibetan Buddhism, not only can systematically understand the Buddhism thought and theoretical system of Nyingma sect, but also can exploit broad prospects which rely on the Pure land thought, Pure culture, study and training methods of Han Buddhism pure land sect to learn from each other and exchange each other, in order to promote dialogue and understanding between Tibetan Buddhism and Han Buddhism , it has important practical significance in promoting Tibetan and Han cultural exchange and national unity.
