Abstract

A variety of alloys can react with hydrogen in a metal hydride, such as rare earth metals during the reaction with the hydrogen generated by the higher chemical energy can be used to implement the function of cooling or heating. Especially in the Freon refrigerant from the historical stage, a variety of new alternatives are emerging out of today, the metal hydride heat pump air as the working fluid for its outstanding environmental and energy utilization of low-grade nature of more and more people's attention. Currently, the metal hydride heat pump is in the development stage, in order to better guide the development of the prototype, it should first be refined theoretical research. This paper describes the characteristics of a metal hydride, based on existing research at home and abroad, analyzed the metal hydride heat pump air circulation principle and characteristics, and pointed out their problems in the application and the need to improve orientation. Of the metal hydride thermodynamic and kinetic properties of in-depth summary and analysis, to establish a metal hydride refrigeration cycle dynamic theoretical model of lumped parameter method, using a pair of metal hydride MmNi4.5Al0.5/MmNi4 .2 Al0.1Fe0.7 as the working fluid to simulate various parameters obtained during the entire cycle of the dynamic parameters change. In order to verify the correctness of the theoretical model, built to LaNi5/LaNi4.7Al0.3 as working fluid metal hydride refrigeration cycle bench validation experiments carried out to measure the entire cycle of reaction time and each step trends in temperature and pressure, the experimental results and the theoretical model trend consistent results. The method by changing the input parameters, the use of simulation procedures, metal hydrides have effects on the refrigeration cycle control and input factors were analyzed one by one, to get the various parameters on the system performance trends. Results of the analysis according to the parameters of the system parameters optimized, without changing the conditions of the working fluid on the performance of the refrigeration cycle is recalculated. The results showed that the optimal parameters can greatly enhance the effect of the refrigeration cycle. These parameters, the greatest impact on the cooling effect of the refrigeration process time and the heat transfer characteristics of the reactor, because time is only controlling factor refrigeration process, thus improving the heat transfer properties of metal hydride reactor is the key to optimizing performance.
