Abstract


The environment of living community has been improved along with rapid development of dwelling houses’construction, but the absence of communication between neighbors and the problems brought up by that were becoming more and more serious, which have aroused the great attention. In traditional design and plan mode architects and planners make their estimate of forming and developing of living community on their own ideation and value judgments without the presence of users, which would block the further acceptance of the habitants and the forming of their feeling of attaching to the living community, which leads to the lost of the sociality-meshwork for communication which could be build up by voluntary activity. The thinking of user participation in modern word came forth in the early of 1900s, which was related to the ecological environment protection at the beginning, and then has spread widely. As for the user participation in the construction of living community and dwelling houses, many theories and practice projects have been carried out in foreign countries and there are also some experiments in China.Considering the realistic situation in China and by judging the practice of different kinds of user participation, we could see that that kind of user participation which takes after the construction is more feasible in nowadays. It’s the kind of user participation which allows the user to adjust and alter their living environment, to make their own contribution to the constructing of living environment by redesign and rebuild on their work. The individual personality of habitant will be integrated into the living environment, so as to form unique community culture, and the acceptance of the habitants and the forming of their feeling of attaching to the living community is going to be enhanced by the same time. In this user participation mode, the mission of architect is to put apart space for the activity of user participation. The mode that put apart space doesn’t means the absent in design , by contraries, it means that architects should induct and attract user participation by design, and cause the forming and maturing of sociality-meshwork in living community by the same time , so as to improving the interpersonal relations.
