Abstract

The bio-impedance measuring technology (BIMT) is a non-invasive detecting technique which extracts biomedical information relating to human body’s physiological status, through the measurement of electrical characters in biological tissue and organ. Due to the feature of low-lost, safety, nontoxic and harmless, it has been paid special attention by the researchers in clinical medicine areas.Based on the impedance measurement technology, this paper presents the intraoperative margin assessment of breast cancer focus technology used in partial mastectomy. It can help the surgeon choose the excising area reasonably, judge the intraoperative margin and be sure of cleaning the remained focus in operation. Because of shortening the waiting time, lightening patients’pain, it has extensive application perspective. This paper mainly focuses on the optimum design of electrodes structure, which used in the intraoperative margin assessment equipment of breast cancer focus. Three kinds of probe electrode were designed: strip-shaped electrode, square-shaped electrode and arc-shaped electrode and targets of electrode structure optimizing were also presented. In the process of the model building in ANSYS simulation environment, the author found and validated that the meshing mode influenced simulation result. In order to eliminate the influence, a new model building method was presented. Based on the new model building method, this paper built simulation model, analyzed the three different electrodes through comparing their sensitivity distribution and draws a conclusion about the electrode structure. The simulation result shows that the arc-shaped electrode has the best performances, the square-shaped electrode does not perform as well as it and the strip-shaped electrode performs the worst among them. Further more, a hardware system is designed to verify the simulation results. The experiment study on animal fat and heart tests and verifies the simulation result on electrode structure optimizing. It shows that the impedance changing tendency in different frequency has character distinguishing ability. In the condition of existing two different tissues in a specimen, the imaginary part of the impedance can distinguish different tissues’character well.
