Abstract

An image as the information carrier has been widely used in many fields . However , the very large amount of digital image data , in order to save storage space and better transmission , image compression . The so-called image compression is the image quality and meet certain requirements under the premise of a process to reduce the amount of the original image data . For the existence of redundant information in the image , can be used in some way to remove the unwanted ingredients , so that image compression can be achieved . The traditional image compression using DCT transform coding , but the compression will appear in the \the image encoding method . Wavelet analysis with time - frequency analysis , multi-resolution analysis of the advantages of easy to combine with the human visual system to obtain good compression effect , especially suitable for image processing of this type of signal , so the wavelet transform method by attaches great importance to people , appeared in a variety of image coding method based on wavelet transform . The wavelet-based compression method applicable to a standard grid , but the quality of the compressed image reconstruction is not very high , a higher degree of distortion . The above two studies for the semi-regular grid wavelet compression , and an effective performance optimization method based on the bit allocation model , in order to achieve fast and low complexity allocation method proposed in this process , in the geometry coding using a weighted mean square error of the approximation method . The experimental results show the results obtained in the model-based allocation during the approximation method as distortion wavelet encoder performance can be improved to improve the coding gain , so as to achieve the purpose of improving image quality does not reduce the image compression rate .
