The millimeter-wave power amplifiers are key components of the millimeter-wave transmitter system. Its performance merits significant impact on the entire system indicators. With the rapid development of millimeter-wave circuit in the field of communications, electronic warfare, and precision-guided, millimeter-wave power amplifier developed higher and new requirements. Ka-band power amplifier technology based on the needs of engineering applications, the paper, the actual design and production of the Ka-band, 2-watt and 5-watt power amplifier. The main content of the paper include: Chapter generality of elaboration characteristics of millimeter wave and made a brief introduction for millimeter-wave power amplifier developed significance, both domestic and international development of solid state power amplifier dynamic analysis. 2 The second chapter begins with a brief introduction the power amplifier definition of technical indicators, then request for the establishment of a 2 watt and 5-watt power amplifier, the initial implementation of the program for the project. Around the implementation of the program, the third chapter details the 2-watt power amplifier design, the preparation process: First, according to the the three cascade structure of the amplifier chip at all levels to be selected and detailed their work status. Meanwhile, for the high gain of the 2 watt power amplifier designed to effectively avoid the phenomenon of self-excited, the cavity and the microstrip structure occur. According to project needs, take a confined medium microstrip - probe transition, circuit simulation with CST circuit simulation software, and the appropriate adjustment, achieved good results. Finally, the cavity and the microstrip structure of the thermal design, to achieve a 2 watt power output in the operating frequency band of 30.2GHz-30.7GHz. According to its design ideas, Chapter 5-watt power amplifier design and preparation of analysis: 5-watt power amplifier including its driver amplifier and power amplifier. First, select the appropriate power amplifier chip driver amplifier chip, and then through a reasonable choice to enable them to effectively promote the power amplifier chip to work properly. Then according to the power amplifier input and output using the microstrip the - probe transition structure, electromagnetic simulation, and adjust the final thermal design of microstrip and cavity structure, it 30.2GHz-30.7GHz band 5 watts output. The same time, the article describes the design of millimeter wave amplifier DC power supply circuit, and millimeter-wave chip welding and installation methods, Watkins gold with interconnect and millimeter wave amplifier chip assembly process introduced 2 watts and 5 to ensure kind of watt power amplifier.
