Abstract


From the early founding to reform and opening up, China’s higher education has been tremendous developed. University Library building from the beginning, has been positioned as one of the three pillars of the university buildings, which respond s to the teaching and researching in colleges and universities taking on important tasks. As the thick atmosphere of such architectural culture, functional complexity of a larger body mass, it has always been difficulties in colleges and universities building design, and also from the academic research point of view, our architects have never stopped in such a method of architectural design exploration.In this time when the turn of the century, China’s university library has gradually formed a relatively fixed spatial form—"module design". As information technology has deepening penetrated in library operations the new opportunities has been brought to the University Library architectural design. Library gradually turned from waiting for the readers in the past to its own initiative obtain information, and used its service brand to attract the reader’s participation in the service concept. In new period, the university library will take not only the whole school commitment to improve the cultural quality and active the cultural life on campus, but also provide a very professional research services. Therefore it is essential to the success or failure of the university plan.The article was written in this context above, by the historical dimensions and the typical dimension we’ll make research and analysis on the development of university library building design. Drawing on the latest success story of the foreign examples in conjunction with the author’s two-year postgraduate actual design of the subject, we’ll try to explore the trends of China’s university library architectural design in future. This time we hope that we can find the true sense of the integration of design ideas through study in the Information Technology and University Library building.
