As with the rapid developments of computer and network technology and the innovations of university training model, the traditional manual course-selection method has been unable to meet the academic administration management requirements under new situation, seriously restricting the public elective courses curriculum management. In many colleges and universities, the course-selection-by-network method has been implement, but the service condition mixed. Along with the expansion of college enrollment, the teaching resources, such as teachers, classrooms, curriculum, are quite tight. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a suitable system of public elective courses for Chongqing Education College.By analyzing the management of public elective courses and the elective pattern and method in Chongqing Education College, the article established the necessity, importance and feasibility of the course-selection-by-network system rely on campus network, and described in detail the function and method of the system for the three main users: students, teachers, academic administrators. Security and stability of the system are important indicators for normal operation. Therefore, regarding system’s security and the stability, this article has also done the corresponding study. ASP.NET is an important component to develop Web system based onMicrosoft .NET frame architecture. ASP.NET has provided a number of important merits: simplicity, security, manageability, and so on. ASP.NET can use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, Dreamweaver and other tools to carry on the development, sped up the efficiency greatly. The article through to the technical features of ASP.NET discussion, achieved the system functions by using SQL Server 2000 database management and use of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 development tools based on the ADO.NET database access technology.This topic’s study is aimed at solving typical problems under present manual course-selection method, making full use of the existing campus network resources, to improve the academic management quality and efficiency, so as to promote the modernization of academic management, standardization and sequencing.
