Abstract


Language is considered the bridge of human communication, while interpreting the bridge of intercultural communication. Interpreting facilitates the communication between different language speaking people from different cultural background. As a means of cross-cultural communication, interpreting actually consists of two layers: language and culture, which means that interpreting is not only the transformation of language, but also the delivery of culture. That is to say, the gap between the source language speaker and the target language audiences is not only the language, but also the cultural background, which is the environment in which language exists. It is important for an interpreter to have thought patterns difference awareness in interpreting.The author believes that thought pattern difference has a great impact on interpreting activities. Through the study of thought pattern difference and its effect on language, as well as the material analysis of the interpreting activities, this thesis will devote to thought pattern difference converting in interpreting. Assessment criterion of achieving the same effect is put forward, which promotes that when interpreting, the interpreter should try to arouse the same response in target language audiences as the speaker does in source language audiences.The research methodology of this thesis is mainly material study. Thought actual interpreting material, this thesis is devoted to discuss and analyze the problems brought by thought pattern difference from communicative perspective. Structural reformulation and pragmatic explanation are proposed as two approaches to reduce the negative influence brought by thought pattern difference and improve communication efficiency.
