Abstract

Edward Morgan Forster (1879-1970) of the twentieth century is one of Britain's greatest novelists. His masterpiece, \This paper attempts to explore the heterologous conflict between cultures and religions, analyzing European trip to India failed. Foster the theme of many novels are all about separation and estrangement, which is to express the novel subject matter. In India, especially in the colonial period in India, cultural and religious differences led to the gap between the Indians and the British. Therefore doomed to Westerners trip to India to failure. Thesis consists of three parts. The first chapter first describes Foster liberal view, this view is held by Foster enabled him to from a more objective perspective to show a real Indian world. Foster in the novel criticizes Britain Yinren Eurocentric point of view, these English Yinren consider themselves British colonial cultural superiority over the European culture, which is impeding the Westerners to understand India is an important factor. At the same time, Foster himself to be religious and mystical characteristics of India attracted, he expressed the view in favor of the Indians praised. The second chapter analyzes the Indian society heterologous religious conflict. The novel is the description of the main characteristics of different ethnic and religious conflict. Foster praised the representatives of Islam Aziz. Hinduism emphasize the harmonious relationship between man and God, it has Islam and Christianity do not have mystical significance.
