With the popularity of the Internet and peer-to-peer computing (P2P) technology and the development of the theory , network users is increasing the demand for file-sharing services . In order to achieve high efficiency and reliability of file sharing between users , in-depth study of the typical P2P file-sharing system , Gnutella , and propose a new and improved P2P network model G2 . G2 as a mixed hierarchical P2P network structure , the absorption of unstructured networks and the advantages of the structure network , the traditional Gnutella hierarchical become a multilayer structure . The structure is divided into two layers , in which the upper layer is an unstructured flooding network the lower structured centralized directory server network . On this basis , this paper studies the Gnutella network message forwarding mechanism and data mechanism , and discuss the shortcomings of these mechanisms , and these mechanisms have been improved in the G2 . Finally, the complexity of the G2 system performance analysis and simulation , to draw the network stability , scalability and query efficiency is superior to the traditional conclusion of the Gnutella network .
