So far , mankind has created the largest control system is a power system, the system having a wide distribution, complicated equipment characteristics . GIS technology used in power systems , can greatly improve the production efficiency of electric power system , the quality of management and scientific decision . But filled with a variety of standards in the field of GIS , geographic information encoding , a variety of data types is not uniform , which bring inconvenience to the storage and delivery of geographic information . April 20, 2000 , the open Geographic Information System Alliance (OpenGIS Consortium, OGC) launched the XML - based encoding standard - Geographic Graphics Markup Language GML ( Geography Markup Language ) . As a unified geographic information encoding GML has been accepted for various GIS software company . Power system also longstanding problem of geographic information format is not unified , which bring inconvenience to the collaborative work of the various subsystems . In view of this, we will GML introduced the electric power system , and solve a series of associated problems , such as the description of the system components , CIM standard of support for GML , GML-based power system graphics information integration framework . Taking into account the GML does not directly support the graphical display its graphical representation become another focus . This article first through the process of transforming the the GML format of data for the SVG format , then displayed in the IE browser , also proposed another new conversion idea : the the GML format of data into KML for Google Earth software support format to display in Google Earth client . Google Earth ( GE) is a virtual globe software developed by Google to provide a simple display environment for geographic information . The examples show : using Google Earth to display the electricity system information is entirely feasible , its effect is satisfactory .
