With the rapid development of multimedia technology and network , search and browse the vast amounts of multimedia data become increasingly urgent problem . Content-based image retrieval (CBIR, Content-based Image Retrieval) is one of the most important direction . This paper studies the key technologies in CBIR , image segmentation and image matching . The paper presents a relatively potential watershed algorithm . The algorithm watershed relative potential energy calculated and compared with a preset threshold value , removing unnecessary detail , important contour information . The introduction of the method on a model of rapid watershed , can effectively inhibit the over-segmentation , to avoid further regional integration , thereby improving efficiency . The experimental results show that , compared with the existing regional integration algorithm , improve the efficiency of the algorithm computing certain over - segmentation phenomenon has also been significantly improved . Traditional whole area match (IRM) algorithm in the calculation of the inter-image matching degree , improved concept of regional qualitative heart of , and according to the relative position of the region centroid and picture center of , and re- calculate significant matrix , thereby gaining better matching effect . Next, introduce the system design , experimental results are summarized , and the experimental results . Finally, the deficiencies of the system , the future research directions .
