H.264/AVC (Advanced Video Coding) is a new generation of jointly developed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T) Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) and the International Organization for Standardization , ISO / IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) video compression coding standards . The standard compression efficiency than any existing video coding standards more than doubled , with a stronger network adaptability , on behalf of the future trends of multimedia data compression coding . Motion estimation is one of the core technology in video compression coding , is also the most time-consuming module . Therefore, how to improve the efficiency of the motion estimation , motion estimation algorithm search process faster and more efficient to become one of the focus of current research . Firstly, the existing international video coding standard depth analysis of its overview and history of the development . Shortly thereafter, H.264/AVC framework to grasp the overall structure , and elaborate on the key technology . Then block matching motion estimation algorithm for discussion , analysis of the motion search algorithm to achieve several classic and compared adaptation occasions and the advantages and disadvantages of each algorithm . On this basis , there is proposed a new motion vector the adaptive search algorithm ( DPMV , ) , the new algorithm will effectively combine several methods of improving efficiency , using two templates according to the different type of motion adaptive selection of search strategy and from starting point. The experiments show that , compared with existing algorithms , the new algorithm reduces the amount of computation to improve search speed . In addition, the combination of the new core technology in the H.264/AVC , adjacent fractional pixel points between having highly relevant motion estimation match error and the characteristics of the vector direction , a new fractional pixel fast motion estimation algorithm (QAFSA ). The experimental results show that : the algorithm in the case of a substantially constant to keep the image quality and bit rate , it is possible to significantly reduce the number of the search point , to effectively improve the speed of the fractional pixel motion estimation . These two algorithms only need to sacrifice a small bit rate can be achieved search quality is close to the full search algorithm , the performance of the search time is greatly reduced , effectively reducing its complexity is more conducive to real-time applications .
