Abstract


The horizontal spiral subside centrifugal machine M301, a core part of the HDPE device(70 thousands ton per year), influences the whole operation process directly and greatly. Now this machine is being used by Lanzhou Petrochemical company of CNPC. The equipment used the double-side mechanical seal previously. But the function of M301 wasn’t satisfactory since it started working. Its lifetime didn’t exceed half a year normally, affected the proper operation seriously. The worse thing is that the seal oil leakage may lead to the disastrous incidents.To the problems caused by double-side mechanical seal technique, the new research subject uses new technique—dry gas seal to enhance the performance in order to keep equipment in a good operation state. The new research subject covers the following related aspects mainly: 1) optimize the design, calculation and material selection of dry gas seal structure; 2) the design of the dry-gas seal monitor system; 3) process dry gas seal and dry gas monitor system; 4) lab test for dry gas seal and dry gas seal monitor system; 5) on-the-scene installation and debugging..Through redesigning and modifying the seal of the equipment, the problem of leakage of M301 had been solved. Also the new equipment can decrease the rate of accidents and protect the healthy safety, guarantee the lifetime of facility and avoid unexpected downtime as well as make sure the product quality, reduce the energy consumption and advance the economy benefits. Meanwhile, redesigning and modifying also provides the effective experiences for the people of same profession. We summarize the examine-and-repair technical requirements from research for the end users’ training and reference, and extend the practical fields of the dry-gas sealing technique also.
