Abstract


“The Left-wing Romanticism”was a specific notion different from the prcvious “Revolutionary Romantic”and “Revolutionary Romanticism” It was “a new kind of literary’sovement originated in Shanghai which was popular in the end of 1 920s and at the beginning of I 930s. It was mainly represented by Jiang Guangci , Hong Lingfei ,Hu Yiepin , Yinfu and so on. In a sense , it was the strangest and the most specific literary thought and cultural phenomenon .Its strange start and end , the complicated style of politics and literature intersecting , and its unreasonable fortune of twinkling disappearance bring us a lot of historical doublts and puzzles .When facing the special ideology of the left-wing romantic literary thought , this text tries to get rid of the above twine and block, restore historical truth in a wide field of vision, seek the spiritual course of the left-wing romantic literati trudging in the brambles and singing in the storm , and contemplate the heavy history behind the left-wing romantic literature’s short fortune. The cultural style of the left-wing romantic literary thought was a kind of young culture in essence .Its spirital source stemped from “May 4 ”In the period of “May 4”, the intergrowth of enlightenment and romanticism dominated the complexity of thc “May 4”romantic cultural thought .The members of Sun Party which had a directly historical origin with Creation Party both received the romantic spirit of the “May 4”period and enhanced its utilitarian tendency of paying close attention to the reality , the mission consciousness and the steadfast spirit stimulated by the radical social thought round about 1928 . Converged by the different historical common efforts of social thought, cultural movement and literary development ,the age of the Great Revolution showed a young character both similar to and different from “May 4”.The vigorous growth of the Left-wing Romanticism just reflected the resort of young times and the response of young character. The left-wing romantic literature was a immature literary style mixed by the left-wing politics and romanticism in a certain historical period, therefore it must have had various contradictions and conflicts under the superfacial harnMny .It was reflected not only in the life pursuit of the left-wing romantic literati but also in the text world of the left-wing romantic literature. The spiritual contradiction and pain experienced in the difficult choice were the common mental reality and ideological character around the Great Revolution . The romantic spirit regarding individualism and freedom as the key element was the starting point of the left-wing romantic literati stepping on political revolution , and it was also the basic tone when they bogged down to the dilemma , and so it led to the dislocation between enlightenment and revolution, the opposite between individuality and belief. The double status of a revolutionary soldier and a romantic literati dominated the amphibiousness of the left-wing romantic literati’s personality. This made them have to abide by two sets of incompletely melted litcrary directions , both admitting “The revolutionary need ”and eturning to the heart”from which brought the doublness of theory and text style .The doubleness of the text style firstly showed into two kinds of texts . There is a crack between the left-wing political theory and the romantic poeticological principles in one text but not in the other even though they were sometimes divergent .
