Abstract


DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is used to transfer configuration information for Internet nodes in TCP/IP. DHCP assigns IP address for network nodes, and provides other configuration information, in order to realize Plus-and-Play in Internet and equipment, to reduce the working intensity for network administrators, and improve the efficiency of the network resources. The earliest DHCP standard was issued by IETF in RFC 1531 in 1993. In the pass 20 years of development, DHCP has been playing a significant role in network. But with the rapid development of Internet, DHCP begins to reveal its defects gradually. For example, DHCP server can not locate client well and truly, DHCP server do not log client’s event perfectly.Under this circumstance, the paper is to develop research of DHCP and has an deepen analysis and research of system composition, data packet format, interaction process, finite state machine of DHCP. It also designed a DHCP server based on database. The DHCP service program based on database realized in this paper comply with standard RFC2131, RFC2132 and RFC3046 and support basic and extended function such as DHCP Client, DHCP Relay, DHCP Server as well as DHCP Option 82. As for DHCP service program, the paper integrates the theory and method of software project, obeys the software principle of life circle, adopts data flow graph and database technology to analyze the whole system and completes coding and debugging consequently.At last, to take advantage of the DHCP server based on database combined with the technology of DHCP Snooping and DAI supplied by intelligent switches, the paper perfectly solved the problem of IP address administration exist in opened environment of campus network such as difficult and disordered management. This system has been formally used in the network of Shandong University of Science and Technology and has achieved excellent application effectiveness.
