Objective To study the polysaccharide biofilm (PSBM, Polysaccharide Bio - membrane) biocompatibility and degradation within the eye . PSBM grafts (2 × 3mm2) limbal incision ( about 3mm) implanted in rabbit anterior chamber iris surface the control eye only line limbal incision suture . On a regular basis during the experiment measuring animal intraocular pressure , slit lamp observation the PSBM graft morphological changes ; corneal endothelium activity the enucleated light microscope 15,25,55 days after implantation , of lens epithelial iris local and retina morphological changes ; and lens epithelial retina of lactate dehydrogenase ( LDH ) , succinate dehydrogenase ( SDH ) , acid phosphatase enzyme ( ACP ) , alkaline phosphatase (ALP) enzyme histochemistry and statistical analysis . Absorption results ① the PSBM graft in the eye can be completely degraded , the average absorption time of 25 days ; ② corneal endothelial activity , crystal morphology of the epithelium , retina was no significant change ; iris implantation PSBM partial visible scar formation ; ③ groups between the experimental eye and the control eye lens epithelial and retinal LDH, SDH, ACP, ALP activity were not significantly different . Conclusion ① the PSBM implanted within the eye is completely degraded and absorbed , a biocompatible absorbable medical biological materials , is expected to be developed in the ophthalmic application ; ② PSBM implanted intraocular lens epithelial and retinal four had no significant effect on the activity of the enzyme , the morphology and activity of the corneal endothelium , lens epithelial and retinal morphology .
