Background: Esophageal overall pre-poor 5-year survival rate is hovering in the 20% -30%, the variety of treatments based on surgery limited efficacy, the need for new treatments to improve esophageal carcinoma. Overexpressed in the tumor cell surface protein molecule as a therapeutic target, FAS and HER-2 are highly expressed in tumor cells, they are involved in tumorigenesis, development, and promote the invasion and metastasis of malignant tumors, FAS and HER2 target esophageal targeted gene therapy prospects may become. The purpose of this study is to clear relationship between FAS and HER2 expression with esophageal cancer clinicopathological characteristics and survival by FAS and HER2 expression in esophageal evaluation FAS and HER2 suitability as a treatment of esophageal cancer molecular target prognostic indicator for patients with esophageal cancer. Methods: Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the primary lesion FAS 149 patients with esophageal cancer and HER2 expression. HER2 ratings standards are used the the HercepTest standards (0,1, 2, 3). FAS ratings standard immune score by semi-quantitative staining intensity :0-30 is divided into negative (-) ,31-60 as weakly positive (1) ,61-120 positive (2) ,121-300, according to the final score Evaluation as strongly positive (3). Results: In 149 patients with esophageal cancer, FAS total positive expression rate was 84.6% (126/149), in which high expression (2 or 3), 73.2% (109/149). FAS expression is closely related with the degree of tumor differentiation (P = 0.003), and a negative correlation with gender, age, smoking, alcohol consumption, tumor location, barium meal length, histological type, depth of invasion, lymph node metastasis, TNM stage, regardless of the lymphatic or vascular invasion and resection margin, P gt; 0.05, not statistically significant; FAS low expression in patients with high expression of the 5-year cumulative survival rates were 28.6% and 11.0%, the median survival time was 27.5 months and 14.0 months (Log rank test, χ2 = 5.693, P = 0.017). HER2 total positive expression rate was 75.84% (113/149), which is highly expressed (2 or 3) was 37.6% (56/149). HER2 expression esophageal clinical and pathological features, P gt; 0.05. Low HER2 expression in patients with high expression of the 5-year cumulative survival rates were 24.7% and 21.5%, the median survival time of 22.0 months and 24.0 months respectively (Log rank test, χ2 = 0.233, P = 0.629). Conclusion: Esophageal FAS high expression of the more common, FAS is highly expressed in patients with poor prognosis. FAS may be suitable for the prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer, esophageal cancer targeted therapy may become one of the targets. HER2 in esophageal carcinoma the overexpression of value as therapeutic targets or prognostic indicators unclear.
