Objective: To evaluate leflunomide ( LEF ) and cyclophosphamide (CTX) efficacy and safety of treatment of lupus nephritis ( LN ) . Methods: We searched PubMed , China Journal Net , Data database to collect leflunomide and cyclophosphamide treatment of lupus nephritis randomized controlled trials , meta - analysis method to evaluate the therapeutic efficiency of 24 - hour urinary protein , serum creatinine , serum albumin , complement C3 , SLEDAI score , and adverse reactions . Application RevMan4.2.2 software for data processing ; categorical variables effect size relative risk ( RR ) and its 95% confidence interval ( 95 % CI ) ; effect size for continuous variables are expressed as weighted mean difference (WMD) . Results: A total of 6 articles included in the study , a total of 270 patients , which LEF group of 143 patients , the CTX group of 127 cases . Meta-analysis showed that : 1 , LEF and CTX clinical efficacy was no significant difference ( P GT ; 0.05 ) ; gastrointestinal reactions (nausea, vomiting , diarrhea , etc. ) between the two groups was statistically significant ( P lt ; 0.00001 ) , LEF group of patients with gastrointestinal reactions was significantly lower than the CTX group ; 3 , infection , neutropenia , alopecia incidence of transaminase elevation difference was not statistically significant ( P GT ; 0.05 ) Conclusion : of LEF treatment for lupus nephritis clinical efficacy and the CTX quite , but better than CTX in drug safety .
