Abstract

Purpose: This issue through application of flow cytometry non-small cell lung cancer (non-small cell lung cancer NSCLC) in peripheral blood lymphocytes and lung cancer cell surface expression of adhesion molecules CD44s explore the following questions: ① lung carcinoma and CD44s expression in lung tissue adjacent to the differences and their significance. ② CD44s expression and lung cancer cell lung pathology type, differentiation, lymph node metastasis, clinical stage relationship. ③ lung cancer patients and control group differences in peripheral blood lymphocytes CD44s expression and significance. ④ peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with lung cancer and lung cancer pathology CD44s expression type, differentiation, lymph node metastasis, clinical stages of relationship ⑤ lung cancer cells and peripheral blood lymphocytes CD44s expression without correlation. Through the above analysis, to explore the possibility of using indicators CD44s do to assist in the diagnosis of NSCLC, development, and determine the prognosis. Methods: From August 2003 - January 2004, were collected after surgery for lung cancer tissue, adjacent lung tissue and the same patient's preoperative fasting venous blood samples of 31 cases; blood samples of 30 cases of the control group from non-cancer patients fasting venous blood. The cell separation, immune markers, the use of flow cytometry. Finally, the lung tissue and peripheral blood lymphocytes CD44s expression quantitative analysis. Results: The expression of CD44s lung tissue than in adjacent lung tissue, by t-test was significant statistical significance (P = 0.001). The lung tissue CD44s expression and pathological type, differentiation, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage were not significantly different (P gt; 0.05). CD44s expression of peripheral blood lymphocytes, patients with lung cancer than non-cancer patients (heterogeneity of variance), the rank sum test was significant difference (P lt; 0.01). Peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with lung cancer CD44s expression and lung cancer histological type, degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis and clinical stage were not significantly different (P gt; 0.05). CD44s expression of lung cancer cells and peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with lung cancer do CD44s expression Pearson correlation test, r = -0.132, P = 0.480 gt; 0.05, no correlation between the two. Conclusion: The expression of CD44s lung cancer cells than in adjacent normal lung tissues was significantly decreased, while the peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients with lung cancer CD44s expression was significantly higher than non-cancer patients. Detection of lung cancer patients with NSCLC cells in peripheral blood lymphocytes and the expression of CD44s diagnosis of lung cancer can develop and contribute to prognosis. In particular, the use of blood samples for testing in clinical easy.
