Objective:To evaluate the efficiency and safety of invigorating qi and nourishing yin for functional constipation (syndrome of qi and yin deficiency and interior accumulated by toxin).Methods:Sixty cases of functional constipation patients (syndrome of qi and yin deficiency and interior accumulated by toxin) were divided into two groups by randomized、double-blind and controlled method, treatment group(n=45, treated with yun-chang capsule),control group(n=15,treated with bian-tong capsule), course of treatment is two weeks. Then assess the two group-s’changes of clinical symptoms and safe indexs before and after treatment and their adverse reactions,use the statistical software of spss13.0 to analyze the symptoms improved and follow up the recurrence.Results:1、Analysis of the curative effect of two groups:treatment group (thirty-two cases were cured, seven cases were excellently effective, three cases were effective, one case was invalid);control group(ten cases were cur-ed, two cases were excellently effective, two cases were effective, one case was invalid), there were no significant difference between two groups in the rate of total efficacy、full recovery and excellent efficacy through analyzing the data(P>0.05).2、Comparing the two groups’symptoms score:The main clinical symptoms were significantly improved after treatment, and their score dropped obvi-ously (P<0.05). But the treatment group was better than the control group in improving the functional constipation patients’stool texture, the difference between two groups was significant (P<0.05). There was no signi-ficant difference between two groups in improving other clinical symptoms (P>0.05).3、There were no adverse reactions in two groups during treatment. There were no significant changes in two groups’blood, urine, stool, liver and renal function and electrocardiogram.4、The cured and excellently effective cases of the two groups were follow-ed up for three months, the recurrence rate was 25.64% in treatment group, the recurrence rate was 25.00% in control group. There was no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05).Conclusions:The therapy of invigorating qi and nourishing yin was effective for functional constipation (syndrome of qi and yin deficiency and interior accumulated by toxin) was effective and safe, it had a low recurrence rate.
