Abstract

In the development of the Chinese modern art since the 20th century, although it has been influenced by the main-stream western art, from the standing point of the native nation, a large quantity of the artists have been digging the segments of the Chinese traditional culture which are considered as the origin of the creation in various forms. The Chinese traditional culture really draws well in the international modern artwork market. Chinese traditional culture is extensive and profound, with a long history. Among the four great ancient civilizations, only Chinese culture, as the main culture, has remained until now. China, who regards the traditional culture as the basis of the nation, has lasted for five thousand years. However, we have to admit that, in the recent several hundreds of years, Chinese traditional culture has been suppressed and discarded unprecedentedly.In today, people start to dig and reflect what China’s belongings are, and which can represent China. Particularly in the modern art, the artists begin to discuss how to continue the broken Chinese traditional culture and make it as the main motivation and source of creation. This article offers thoughts on how to present the core of the traditional culture in the modern sculpture culture, and formulates the different opinions of the traditional culture together with the background of the present period so that we promote the creation means and study of the modern sculpture culture, which aims to develop the traditional culture. In the study, it mainly uses the way of analysis, comparison and so on. It concludes the precious experience from the successful modern artists’sculpture works in the years, and argues comprehensively the relative theory of the modern sculpture. This article also borrows the self-created series of works named originators’world based on the tradition culture to prove. The article has been written after a lot of thought and constant review. How is it? What’s it? Why? How? By answering these asking questions, logistically, this article discusses and tells the details of how to use the traditional culture element as the source of the modern sculpture works. The first chapter tells the development of the modern sculpture art and the market future of the modern artworks which shows the traditional culture. The second chapter presents the different phenomena and thoughts of the traditional culture. The third chapter analyses the reason and the meanings to present the traditional culture in the modern sculpture. The fourth chapter explains the way to reconstruct the traditional culture in the modern sculpture.This study will help to build the status of the traditional culture in the modern sculpture and specially study in the design methods in according to the meanings of the combination of the traditional cultural elements and the modern arts, in this way to promote the native cultural symbols and natures in the Chinese modern sculpture. By the internationalization of the sculpture art to improve the acknowledgement of the Chinese traditional culture and then create the true Chinese modern sculpture art.
