Abstract


This dissertation researched the visual artistic form of Mo P’u in the sight of artistic designing and discussed the modeling and decorative theme of Mo P’u in Ming and Qing Dynasties form the view of iconology and stylistics, and then it took the most representative work CH’ENG-SHIH MO-YUAN in Ming Dynasty as an example, concluded the designing features and transformation of Mo P’u in Ming Dynasty, analyzed its mindset and aesthetic tastes.The feasible Mo P’u in Ming and Qing Dynasties were collected and summarized. More than two thousand pieces of Mo P’u were classified by model and decorative themes and manifested in form of tables. Firstly, the particular emphasis and proportion of Mo P’u was summarized by way of quantization. Secondly the designing of typical pictures in CH’ENG-SHIH MO-YUAN was analyzed. Finally all the interpretation is based on culture background of Ming and Qing Dynasties.The pursuit of luxurious social mode brought by the participation of literati class and the development of commodity economy were the important reasons for the profound culture connotations of Mo P’u design in Ming and Qing Dynasties. They wished to show their taste and distinguish from other classes by the special design of Mo P’u, no matter through self design or through buying from businessmen.Mo P’u in Ming and Qing Dynasties was an image treasure. It is helpful for the interpretation of that age and modern design by learning internal and external causes of the development and transformation of Mo P’u.
