Abstract

The Ming period, the seeds of capitalism, economic development led to changes in people’s ideas, women began the pursuit of individual liberation. Ming the mid-royal government’s weakness makes the writers to concentrate more on art activities, literati painting has been further developed, therefore, is especially prosperous Jiangnan region. Literati of women as wives and daughters of their families at home, long-term subtle, allowing them to gradually participate in drawing activities, the Ming dynasty painter of women started to grow rapidly.Before the Ming Dynasty, seen very few historical records of women artists, of which the identity of royal women, mostly noble, and more use of calligraphy as long. After the Ming and Qing Dynasties in the number of women artists is not only a marked increase in the types of identity also tend to diversify, mainly include:lady, Gong Ye-Ji Shi, prostitutes. Concern is that during this period, especially prostitutes, courtesans in the proportion of women artists increased significantly.
